Our “Oracle layoff rumors” post has become a sad “Oracle layoff discussion thread“, with more and more commenters reporting today’s layoffs.

Update 1 (1-10-2009): The rumor of massive layoff in Oracle’s US offices has not been officially confirmed yet.

Update 2 (1-10-2009):

  • India’s Oracle office in Bangalore lays off 40 people, according to The Time of India.
  • Oracle India has an extensive network of more than 400 channel and alliance partners in India, which includes Infosys, Satyam, Sonata, Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro.

  2. Termination packages were sent out to folks on 1/9/2009 in the US. Nothing at all in the media yet.

  3. Oracle sales toads have a well deserved reputation for being snakes. I’m not sorry for any of those liars. What goes around comes around.

    All that arrogance will finally catch up to them.

  7. Yes. Oracle will not ever announce a layoff but they did a round in early Jan 09 and are expected to do a larger action next month.could it b e as high as 5% ?
