20,000 Indian workers to be flown out of UAE

Tens of thousands of Indian construction workers are being flown out of the United Arab Emirates by their employers on bulk-booked flights in March, it was reported on Sunday.

According to figures gleaned by the Indian Consulate in Dubai from Indian airlines, a total of 20,000 workers from several construction firms are leaving next month.

They are either being sent back home on long leave, or are being redeployed to work on projects in other Gulf countries, such as Qatar, according to a report in UAE daily Emirates Business.

  1. Now we need ‘bulk-booked’ one-way flights to india right here in Silicon Valley. The economy cannot swallow all these ‘debelopers’ with their fake resumes and ‘jaba-koding skillz’

  3. Beetle, You are a moron of the highest order. You don’t realize it but you just about good enough to work for a low tech sweat shops. For the debelopers the job they are in is a stepping stone to something better. You giving them company speaks more about your pitiful skills, then theirs. Without the shackles of the immigration system to deal with, you should’ve been working amongst the best, but that was not to be. Just as water finds its lowest level, you seem to have found yours. Enjoy the debelopment company and in a few years you wouldve seen those guys fly away to better places, while you keep whining away at the keyboard.

  5. Huh. The hatemongering on this blog is funny. Slahdot: I think you missed the point of fake resumes. Unfortunately I have seen this myself, but not just with foreign workers, rather with everyone. Everyone is really good at writing resumes. Maybe someone who is honest can get frustrated. It all depends on the personal experience you make in your job.

  6. It is not really needed to send anybody out forcedly. Especially, only by nationality. I hope, US is much more civilized country than UAE. However, the immigration system should be fixed, or, at least, “patched”: it is a matter of fact that there is no need so many foreign workers these days. So, H1B/L1 along with EBGC programs should be significantly changed to reflect current economic reality in the US and in the world.
