New York City Health & Hospitals Corp Announces 400 Job Cuts, Closure Of Facilities

New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation on Thursday announced plans to cut 400 jobs to deal with financial challenges.

HHC management said half the job cuts will come by laying off 200 employees and the other half through attrition. The job cuts are necessary to deal with a $66 million cut to HHC’s Medicaid reimbursement from the state coupled with other factors including the rising amount of losses from caring for uninsured patients, rising costs of drugs and medical supplies and increased wages and fringe benefits.
