Ryder to Eliminate 3,100 Jobs in Americas, Europe

According to Bloomberg: “Ryder System Inc., the biggest U.S. truck-leasing company, is cutting 3,100 jobs in the U.S., South America and Europe as the global economic crisis damps demand.

About 2,400 jobs will be eliminated in Europe, Brazil, Argentina and Chile as it ends operations in the three South American countries, the Miami-based company said today in a statement. Approximately 700 other positions that are mostly in the U.S. will also be dropped, Ryder said. “
